The Capture Index benchmarks every grid-scale BESS in the NEM against the LP-optimal dispatch outcome — identifying the exact size and source of the performance gap, by region, by company, by asset.
LP-optimal benchmark vs actual SCADA dispatch, 12-month rolling average (Jul 2025 – Jun 2026). Illustrative figures.
The 28.6% average gap is decomposed into three structural sources using LP counterfactual analysis. NEM-wide average.
| Region | G-SIG | G-THR | G-PRO | Capture |

The Capture Index uses LP-optimal dispatch simulation against AEMO SCADA and DISPATCHPRICE actuals.
For each DUID, we solve a linear programme over AEMO DISPATCHPRICE with asset-level capacity, ramp, and SOC constraints — this is the theoretical revenue ceiling.
Actual dispatch (MW) is sourced from AEMO DISPATCHSCADA at 5-minute resolution. Revenue is computed using DISPATCHPRICE for the asset's region and connection point MLF.
The gap between LP-optimal and actual revenue is decomposed into G-SIG, G-THR, and G-PRO using counterfactual simulation — each source is isolated and quantified independently.
